Invite to KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.

I am happy to announce I received an invitation to the first senior major, the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship played in Benton Harbor Michigan May 24 – 27. It was my goal this spring to play my way in to the Championship through the Champions Tour and I did enough to get the invite I needed. Absolutely delighted to have this tournament to look forward to.

The first tournament of 2018 on the newly named Staysure Tour (former European Senior Tour) is completed at the beautiful Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club. It is a 9 hole golf course and very fun to play. This year we used two different tees on almost every hole and the last day the pins were moved between our played front and back nine.

It is a few days since I finished the Chubb Classic. I have had a few days to reflect on the tournament and the last two weeks on the Champions Tour. Chubb Classic finished with a tied 64th place, shooting 74 - 73 - 73. I didn't play as well as the week before, but I played good in Naples. I can only be satisfied with how I performed, playing 14 rounds of golf in 15 days. I felt worn during the final day, but all my fitness work got me through the tough schedule.

I left Boca Raton Sunday afternoon and drove to the West Coast of Florida to do the next Event Qualifier for the Chubb Classic Monday morning. I got up very early and drove to the golf course. Got a cart and drove all 18 holes, because I hadn't had a chance to play the course. A good warm up followed and off I went to the first tee. Played ok on the front nine, and played great on the back nine. Shot 69, three under and that tied the 1st place with another two players. So I am IN again this week, playing the Chubb Classic on the Champions Tour.

The Boca Raton Championship is finished and a great champ was crowned with Mark Calcavecchia. It was a blustery Sunday and made scoring very difficult. It was tough to get the ball close to the hole in the windy conditions, so birdies didn't come easy. With a final round in 73 strokes and level par for tournament, finishing 53, it is not what I came for. I played as good from tee to green as I have played for several years. I was in great control of my long game and it was a lot of fun to play. I had SO many birdie chances the first two rounds, but the putter was not in great form.

Great news from the East coast of Florida. I finished 2nd at the Boca Raton Championship final qualifying and got one of the four spots available. I played very solid all day and shot a two under par in windy conditions. What a treat for me to be in this tournament, and I am looking forward to continuing the good form in to the tournament.

Results from the qualifying can be viewed on this link: https://sflpga.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/sflpga18/event/sflpga1820/contest/1...

MCB Tour Championship 2017, Mauritius, European Senior Tour.

We arrived in Mauritius to a top trimmed golf course, the Legends at Belle Mare Plage. They have been improving the course, clubhouse and facilities over the last few years. Just as you think, they can’t do it any better, they come up with some great improvements. Well done to all, we really enjoy these improvements and the hospitality in Mauritius.

Farmfoods European Senior Masters.

We really battled with nature this week, trying to play golf as storm Brian passed through Great Britain. Thursdays Pro Am got rained out, and the course got soaked. It was a shame, because the greenkeepers had done a great job, getting the course in a really nice shape. The following three days, we battled through wind, rain and cold temperatures. Tough conditions and very difficult to score.

If you are in the neighborhood of Rotterdam, you need to drive by the Dutch and play this course. The course is designed by Colin Montgomerie and European Golf Design,  and it has a very exciting lay out. Lots of water in play and the greens are very undulated with run off, so it is really a challenging course to master.

What a difference a year has made to the condition of next years host course of the Ryder Cup, Le National in Paris France. It was in fabulous condition this year. Excellent fairways and the best greens we have played all year. We got spoiled and I loved every minute of it. Le National is such a demanding course with water in play on so many holes. It is a real test of nerves and mental stamina.
