Champions Tour Ace Championship pre qualifying February 7th.

The importance of turning 3 shots in to 2 shots.

I am through my second pre qualification for the Champions Tour, ACE Championship at Naples, Florida.

We played the Old Corkscrew Country Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus. An awful difficult golf course. Very long an undulating greens, too undulating for my taste!!! I hit two bad shots and the rest of them were not great,
just average. I was never really close to the pin for birdies on my approach shots to the greens. I shot 77, five over par, the best score was 73 and 74 made the last qualifying spot. We were 70 players playing for 5 spots.

Disappointed, oh I don’t really know. I suppose it was expected. Not having played enough tournament rounds, it is very difficult to get the best out of a round of golf. I need to play a lot more tournament rounds to dust of the winter rust. I had four easy up and down from the edge of the green and did not get any of them up and down. Simply because of bad pace on my puts or chips. No big disaster, but frustrating, because it is so easy to correct. All it takes is practice and more tournament rounds.

Luckily I will soon get more tournament rounds. I will play 3 Sunbelt Tour tournaments in a row, each 54 holes from the 25th of February through the 14th of March. Looking forward to playing many rounds and hopefully get my golf in the right shape.

Until then, I will stay in Florida and enjoy practicing for the first Sunbelt Tour tournament in Melbourne Beach, just south east of Orlando.
