Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship, Staysure Tour.

I owe an update after the tournament in Trevose a week ago in the south of England. I am currently on my way to Bad Ragaz in Switzerland for the next Staysure Tournament after having a week off from tournament golf.

It is a long time ago I have played as well for 54 holes. The work I have done with the headcover under my left arm during the swing is getting my arms and body much more connected and I am hitting it further with more accuracy. My short game was really good all week and the tension level throughout the tournament was relaxed but concentrated. I finished tied 17th shooting 68 – 78 – 69 for one under par.

We had a lot of wind and firm conditions in the second round, which made the Trevose links course very tricky. I had a horrendous day on the greens and putted myself out of the tournament. The final 18 wasn’t much better, I missed 6 putts from 6 feet and in and still managed a 69. I decided at the end of the round to stand much taller over the putter to get into a more relaxed position, I started hitting the line better and got more comfortable over the ball. It also felt like a more natural follow through of the putter head. Maybe I had gotten too low and tense over the ball after all the wind during the second round.

This week is the first tournament of 5 in a row. Bad Ragaz is one of my favorite destinations and a course I still have to beat. It is VERY narrow, and you have to be precise with your approach to the greens. You have to be able to draw the ball off the tee and read the small breaks on the greens. I know what I have to do and what to practice, looking forward to a good week and to sink some putts.

Lastly, thanks to Pete for being on my bag and helping me throughout the week, witnessing ups and downs of a tournament golfer.

Happy golfing,

Steen.
