Sharjah Senior Golf Masters, European Senior Tour, Final Round.

Finally a good night sleep :). The 9 hour time difference from Florida to Sharjah has been tough this week. I was really focused on a good final round today. All went good during warm up and I was two under after 8 with a couple of missed chances for birdies. A combination of small mistakes and really bad luck followed on the back nine. I hit a good drive on the dogleg 10th hole, just cutting across the corner of the dogleg. Sadly my ball caught the top of a palm tree and stayed in the tree. I had to go back and reload, that really hurt me. It was a struggle to regain the good feeling I had and the rest of the back nine was one long fight for birdies. I three putted twice on the back nine, but holed off the green for an eagle  on 15th. Yes, kind of a rollercoaster finish to a good tournament. I finished 8th on 7 under par and it is a very good start to my European Senior Tour season.

I knew when I came on Tuesday that the good greens, but slow uphill putts this week would be a problem. I worked on it a lot Tuesday and Wednesday, but I never got the right feel of pace this week. I left a lot of putts short in the middle of the line. My brain wouldn't hit it as hard as the greens required, and that really turned out to be the difference between finishing 8th or in the top 3. Technically, the change in my putting is much superior to what I have been doing. Now it is a matter of practice :). Looking forward to it.

My next tournament will be a qualifier in Atlanta for a PGA Tour Champions tournament in April. I will travel back to Florida soon and start working on the various things in my game and my fitness.
