Swiss Senior Open Round 1, Bad Ragaz, Switzerland, European Senior Tour

Good to be back playing tournament golf after almost 3 weeks off. The Swiss Senior Open is a favorite amongst the players. Well organized and it is a beautiful place. The whole team behind the tournament is extremely friendly and make sure we are all feeling welcome. The course is a tree lined course, very tight at times but a fair test of golf.

The new "anti back pain" swing is really working. I played really good today and did everything right. Today could have been a very low round, lots of putts just slipped by the hole. I am extremely pleased with my performance and happy we only have one day to go. I never got any back spasms today, but I was close all day to get some. They are not far away and I have to be careful not to overdo any swing.

I had a very good day on the course today. The score didn't reflect the way I played, but I am very satisfied being in the right end of the field. I shot level par 70 and had great chances to shoot a good round today. I was a little off on the speed on the greens and you can't do that on these undulated greens. I putted well on the front nine and then it all dissapeared. The ball came out of the putterhead faster or softer than I planned, and I wasn't hitting the lines.

The 2016 European Senior Tour has started in Wales on a sunny day with a good breeze. The Roman Road course at the Celtic Manor is a very tricky challenge. This year the greens are very firm and as always very undulated. It is extremely difficult to get the ball close to the holes on the approach shots. Once on the green, you really have to be below the hole, because you can get some treacherous putts.

I didn't have a great warm up session today. I couldn't get the feel of my left side dominating my swing. As good as it felt yesterday, it was not to be found during my warm up today. I managed a decent start with pars and then I made a couple of putts for birdies to continue the good run from yesterday. I shot three under on the first nine (back nine) this morning and came in with a total of 6 under after yesterdays 9 holes in 3 under. I was leading by 1 shot and believed that I would find the good swing again on the final 18 holes.

The Sunbelt Tour is now in Cullman, Alabama. It is a 10 hour drive from our house in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. I decided to drive up and play this 54 tournament to make sure I play tournament golf leading up to my start on the European Senior Tour in the beginning of June.
