Champions Tour Final Qualifying, round 2, Scottsdale, Arizona.

No progress on a picture perfect golfing day, where I ended up shooting even par 71.

It was all uphill again today, making bogey on my first hole (the 10th hole). It was a mixed bag today with a lot of good shots but too many bogeys from the middle of the fairway. On top of that, I am not making putts, my good putts are shaving the hole but not falling. I mentally coped better with the bad times today and will put my focus on this part the rest of the year.

I am sitting in Woodforest Clubhouse, totally drained from a very nervy week. It all turned out good with a one under par 70 today. I finished tied 12 and is now through to the Champions Tour final qualifying in Scottsdale, Arizona on December 1 - 4. I am so relieved and happy about this result, the goal of getting on the Champions Tour is very much alive :):)

Perfect conditions today. 75 degrees, no wind and sunshine. The course is still very wet, but the greens are dry and even faster than the first two rounds.

It is very rare we putt on greens with such great speed. On top of the speed, they are very hard to read. The grain plays such a big impact on how the ball breaks and I really have a tough time seeing the right break and the right amount of break.

We are half way through the qualifying. I played 4 holes this morning and finished my first round on 2 over par, 73. I played a lot better than I scored. The greens are very very difficult, because they are extremely fast down hill with the grain. I never got a good speed control, so it was a struggle to make any putts. I three putted three times and had two one putts so that left me with 37 putts in the first round. Not a great start and very disappointing to play well and shoot over par.

We had a very challenging day in Houston with the weather front hitting us around 10 a:m. I hit off on the 10th tee at 8:50 in wind and rain. It was warm around 77 degrees, but I still wore my raingear. Played well and made a couple of putts in the first 4 holes getting it to two under par. Hit my driver in the middle of the fairway on 14, the front hit us and the whistle blew, so we headed for the clubhouse.

It is that time of year, Qualifying School time!

I am in Houston Texas for the next 5 days trying to get through stage 1 of the Champions Tour qualifying and make it to the Final Qualifying in Scottsdale in the beginning of December.

I have played a couple of one day tournaments on West Florida Golf Tour after I got back from tournament golf in California. I have played well and is happy with my game.

The change I made yesterday on the range worked today. A straighter right arm tucked into the right side of the chest got me turning my upper body on the take away. It gave me a better contact with the ball and the bad shots were a lot better today. I shot 66 and moved from 8 to tied 3rd. Had the best score of the day and is very pleased I solved my swing problems.

Another day with perfect conditions at Winter Haven Country Club in Florida. I didn't take advantage of the good conditions. Finished the day with an even par 72 shots and is actually satisfied with the score, because I did not hit the ball well at any time today. I really struggled with the swing all 18 holes. I have no rhythm in my swing and it feels a little like hit and hope every time. I have been trying to stay still over the ball and I think this has gotten me in a position where I don't turn my upper body, because I am trying to use as little movement over the ball as possible.

Except for the fog, which delayed the start by 1 hour and 15 minutes, it was a picture perfect day in Winter Haven. A beautiful course next to a big lake and in great condition. A treelined course and fun to play.

It wasn't a great start to the tournament for me. I shot 71, one under par and made too many mistakes today. I didn't drive the ball well and found myself in the trees a couple of times. My sense of speed on the greens was off today and I didn't make the putts I should have.
