Golf is a very unique sport and it is extremely difficult to become consistently good at it. As they say: “Practice makes perfect”.
If you don’t have the energy, will, dedication and desire, do not become a professional golfer☺. It is a very lonesome and tough life, with extremely many disappointments and few wins. But it is a great journey if you do have this burning desire to compete and challenge the game and push yourself to your limits. Once you finish on top of the leaderboard, it is all worthwhile.
Everything depends on you when you are on the golf course, no one else. You have no reserves to substitute you on a bad day, you have to cope with the stress of playing bad and get the best result. You have to be in control at all times. A favourite saying, which I like to live by: “if you are not in control of your life, you can be certain someone else is”. Oh yeah, I enjoy being in control of what I am doing, on and off the golf course.
Mentally, this is a great sport. You have to deal with fear, anxiety, nightmares, frustration and numbness, but sometimes you actually feel good about yourself and your game. Enjoy those moments because they don’t last long. Why do I come back to the game tomorrow, I simply love the challenge!
